AGNS ArtsSmarts Exhibitions

The 2011-2012 ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia program:

AGNS travelling exhibitions are being planned for locations throughout the province, giving teachers the chance to bring their students to view original works of art.  Encounters with art can illicit a variety of creative responses; guided by ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia artists of all disciplines, students might paint, move to a beat, try on a stage character, invent their own music, improvise in a group or solo, or enjoy research.

Exhibitions:

Prints from the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

This exhibition features a selection of prints given to the AGNS from the Canada Art Bank. It features prints such as serigraphs and lithographs, created by noted Canadian artists including Claude Tousignant, Rita Letendre, Daphne Odjig, John Boyle, Jacques Hurtubise, Toni Onley, Don Proch, Joyce Wieland and Marcel Barbeau.

Jointly supported by the AGNS ArtReach program, these exhibitions also offer students the opportunity to tour the exhibition and explore printmaking techniques through hands-on workshops offered by ArtReach staff and local printmakers.  A kit containing artist information, curriculum links, a “Learning to Look” resource, and materials for printmaking, remains in each exhibition venue so that teachers in the area can plan visits with their students.
