Project Budget: $3080 ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia Contribution: $2618 Students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 used clay animation techniques along with live action and puppets to bring to life the concept of globalization through the subject areas of Global Studies, English 11 and 12, Oceans 11 and video production. The South Shore Alternate School is designed for students who have difficulty functioning in a larger high school setting. All programs and curricula at the school include discussions about what the students will do after high school. This project encouraged the students to explore events of global significance, such as climate change, and produce works that reflect how such events impact on their future. Students from the South Shore Alternate School submitted their ArtsSmarts Nova Scotia project work to the Viewfinders Film Festival held annually in Halifax. Their films have also been shown as part of CBC’s Saturday morning programming for children. |
